Unique shoes

In modern society, shoes have become more than just something you wear to protect your feet from the rough, sharp things on the ground. Modern unique shoes have the ability to change the way a person looks, change the look to be unique. Sometimes certain kicks and sneakers put forth very strong fashion statements. These days, consumers have total and complete control when they choose to customize shoes. One thing’s certain; they have become a way of expressing one’s personality and are taken seriously by many people.

It wasn’t too long back that kicks and sneakers were hardly expressive and were barely unique shoesworth a glance from anybody. As late as the 19th century, everyone wore the same brands or colors, and shoes were not as expensive as they are today; no one stood out from the crowd because of their kicks. Long before factories were able to produce shoes in mass quantities, cobblers, otherwise known as shoemakers, would produce each shoe individually by hand. A good pair of shoes could last years if properly maintained.

Shoes in spotlight

Today we are witnessing a trend that has footwear in the spotlight. Just this past Black Friday 2011, hundreds of people around the country eagerly stood outside in the cold in anticipation of the midnight release of the new Nike Air Jordan shoes. These “sneakerheads,” as they have come to be known, display a love for unique shoes like no other. Nike’s re-release of the infamous 1988 Air Jordan classic had sneaker fans running to their nearest shoe retailers. Within hours most major retailers were sold out. This gives a glimpse into what kind of importance is placed on shoes in our modern times.

When it comes to shoes, some say the more eccentric, the better. Some people even go as far as to customize shoes. There are red and yellow Nike’s that bear the Iron Man character, black and yellow Converse that bear the Batman character, and even psychedelic, controversial Converse that feature none other than the legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix! There are some people that take shoes to a whole different extreme using violence in efforts to acquire shoes. Others judge people simply by the shoes they wear. They are mistaken because sometimes very cheap shoes can look expensive, and more important unique!
